I need drivers for this notebook's PCI Bridge & Modem.
The compaq recovery CD will not "recover" because the internal CDROM drive has taken a walk.
Campaq - as usual is just full of information - NOT!
Your best bet might be to get that CD-ROM drive going again. Try going here for <a href="http://web14.compaq.com/falco/sp_syn.asp?detail=yes&recid=SP4419" target="_blank">Presario 1200/1600 Specific Models Fix for CD Controls</a>. Which version of Windows are you using? How does it look in Device Manager? Any exclamation marks or errors? It is possible that the CD drive itself has gone bad. They are relatively cheap nowadays...might just think about replacing it.
