I just installed Windows 2000 on my Presario 1247, and now my sound card has gone missing. Can someone please help? I would do a driver search, but I don't know the name that I am looking for.

Just look on your system drivers disk or windows for the driver.
What Danimal said might be the way to go...however...if you've got some time, go here to read up on <a href="http://web14.compaq.com/falco/detail.asp?FAQnum=FAQ3878" target="_blank">Does my Presario desktop or notebook support Windows 2000?</a> Click on the accompanying link...lots of info to chase down.<br />The problem is that Compaq does not have a Win2000 driver for your Notebook. Go here to download your <a href="http://www.compaq.com/support/Techpubs/qrg/presario1200.html" target="_blank">Quick Reference Guide</a>. Unfortunately, it doesn't "refer" to or mention anything about a sound card. It does refer to an audio card with jacks but your model number is not listed.<br />Sorry I couldn't help out more.
