I need replacement ribbon for Compaq Presario Laptop. Compaq tells me I have to replace LCD Panel ($1000.00), but ribbion disconnects from both ends like it can be replaced. It is broken about in the middle. Does someone have any info on where I can get parts?
Go here for <a href="http://www.compaq.com/support/techpubs/QRG/" target="_blank">your Quick Reference Guide</a>. Scroll down to Portables and select your Presario model from the drop down menu. Hopefully, your particular part will be listed.<br />As for where to find parts, I performed a Search on Google for "Compaq parts" and came up with <a href="http://www.compaqrepair.com/compaq/" target="_blank">http://www.compaqrepair.com/compaq/</a> Click on LCD Display Cables. I can't tell you about how good they are but you might want to give them a try. Let us know how it ends up...Good Luck!

Thank-You. That site for computer parts was very helpful. They quoted me $148, which is better than $1000 No common sense seems to be left in the world...why did they make the part to be replacable, then you can't find it. Thank-you again.

Another supplier of Compaq parts is <a href="http://www.ambry.com/" target="_blank">Ambry</a> but i'm not sure if they have your model listed. If you now have the part number, you can search for the details.
When i replaced an LCD cable in a friends Contura laptop, he bought it direct from Compaq UK and it cost around £30. The price you've been quoted seems high although having not seen the part in question i'm only guessing.
