Are there any new drivers for this modem? Should i buy a new one? I am only connecting at 28.8 with a 56k-capable ISP and i have eliminated all other possible problems.

It would be a good idea to ditch the modem. The performance is below average, however it should not be as bad as you are stating. Be sure to have your lines check by your phone company and use the proper utilities to diagnose your connection (ping, tracert, etc..) Make sure that your COM port speed is at least 57600. There are new drivers via Compaq's softpaq's on thier web site (www.compaq.com). They are still a poor example of what a driver should be doing, but better than nothing. Go down to Comp and get a Diamond 56Ksp and you will thank your self later. Stay away from PCI for now until they iron out all the problems with the enumerator and drivers.
