Hi folks ! I recently bought an Pressario 1245 laptop. Now I donīt want to use the original recovery cd and have tried to load a Win 98 SE cd. That went out quite well but still I miss some of the drivers, monitor, modem etc. Is there anyone out there that would like to share experience of what I need and where to get it. If possible a complete list...please.

Compaq basically blows if you have half of a mind and want to install your machine the way you want to. I have found out the information you need:
Audio= ess 1869
Video= NeoMagic 128vd+
modem= lucent winmodem
all drivers need to be downloaded from a wonderful site like windrivers, or from manufacturers. By the way, don't try to install with winnt. Modem drivers are not compliant.
