Problem CD-ROM drive behavior

My Creative CD-ROM drive is exhibiting an odd behavior - whenever I put a CD in the drive, (whether it be an audio CD, a data CD, or a program CD) after about 15-20 seconds it automatically ejects itself - it won't read any CDs at all. The hard drive light comes on for a bit and then the drive ejects. Any ideas on what is wrong? - this is one behavior I have never run across before.

Could be a CDROM in it's last days or a bad IDE cable.

OR try exchanging Molex cables insid ethe case with an unused one
