linux and the lne100tx 4

I am playing with mandrake 7.2, I have all of the drivers for the rest of my hardware, but am unable to get the nic in for my internet access. I tried running the install directions from the driver file, downloaded both new and old drivers, but still no dice, it is not generating the tulip.o file. any help would be greatly appreciated
