Unhappy PCMPC100 PCMCIA Card & DOS drivers

I have created a DOS Client Boot Disk using the PC100.DOS driver and instruction I found in MS Q142857, but when I boot with the disk, when the net initializes I get a MAC0001 error, Initialization Failed, yet the card works fine under Win 98. I have built several different Client boot disks, including Xircom, which has an excellent write up [Doc KB1219]. Linksys doesn't seem to be any help and their knowledge base and FAQ suck big time.
