LNE100TX

I just bought 2 NICs from Office Depot. They were EtherFast 10/100 Lan Cards. They were supposed to be Plug and Play. Plug and Pray, as it turns out. I called tech support only after making sure I had done everything correctly, and that office hours would still allow. I had both beat - or so I thought. The opperator said support would call me back ASAP. Didn't happen. That was over two hours ago. Here's the deal:
I can see the computer in its own Network Neighborhood, but not in any other. It cannot see the Primary Domain Controler, or any other Win platform on the network. I just removed Realtek 8029 cards from 2 pcs here at this job site (because they have bad Win98 drivers) and it looks like Linksys is no better.

Please help. I am a pc technician who likes products that work and I recomend products that WORK to others.

I am running win98 on my home computers and have a card of that kind in each one. I my situation, it seems that Win98 finds an Ethernet controller (under Unknown devices) and then has trouble finding the Linksys card. What solved my problem in both cases is to install the drivers for the card, and then remove the offending "Ethernet Controller", then restart the computer. In both cases (and whenever I reinstall Win98 ) win98 finds the linksys card as it should with the next load.

I purchased the same Linksys product with 2 100M cards and the 100BaseTX 4-Port hub at an Office Depot here.
Under WIN95 and WIN98, the setup worked with a cable modem.
Also, Win2000 has trouble recognizing card is functioning properly.

Return to NT,wait for ME, or buy the 3COM ?
What shall we do ?

There are several versions of lne100tx. Check the driver list for your version. Download the files and expand to seperate
directories on your hard drive. If you see
Win2000 folder, you're in luck. Use the Win2000 network card setup program and check "have disk", then set path to Win2000
as above.

Note: the driver files contain different files with the same name so it's important you expand to seperate directories.
