Need Driver for Opti Viper 82C556M

Subject placed on IBM Pentium 100 motherboard. Lack of IDE controller (this same OPTi) driver does not allow the CD-RoM drive any more (at least I think so). Any help is welcome

If you have the original cd drive, there is an update or patch for the 2144 series Aptivas for the CD rom.

I also have an aptiva-a50 to upgrade to win98 w/13 gig hdd. '98 wants to put the wrong controller drivers in....even after removing the info from ****.pdr files in iosubsys and trying to install standard pci\esdi controller drivers. IBM should be the most likely place to find exactly what is needed but ,as you know, IBM takes offense to "techies" and would rather you buy another m\b altogether. good luck!!! jcs@nowait.net
