I, too, have noticed problems with this board. The M571 has an identical problem (SIS 5595). In my case, when WinFax Pro 8 starts up, it corrupts the display. When the power management routines blank the screen after a period of inactivity, it returns to normal when you press a key or move the mouse. I have been trying to find new drivers that will fix this, but have been unsuccessful.

I have used a lot of these boards and can say that I have not seen this problem. I can believe that is is there, as there are also lots of other problems with these boards. Instead of curing it I would trade them in for a non PC-CHIPS board such as an Asus or Giga-Byte. Also these boards state that they will run an AMD K6-2 350+ cpu's but when they are used on them, you get no end of grief, ( GPF's Fatal Exceptions, etc ). For some reason only tend to be the 100MHz chips that cause this

I've been having loads of problems with an AMD K6-2 350 in a PC chips M598 board; they are crap. Mine wouldn't work with the SIS530 video drivers from SIS...getting the new ones from www.pcchips.com may help. Also make sure you've got a recent dibeng.dll file; my early copy of win95 needed this file updating to work properly with this mboard. My system is still not perfect and I won't buy a PC chips board again for sure.

I'm beginning to think I got the short end of the stick with my pcchips 598. I cured the problem of dibeng.dll crash by going to control panel/system/performance/graphics/ hardware acceleration from full to half on a amdk6-2/400, win95 non oem version. Also getting the ide drivers have to be changed when you upgrade your mother board. Getting them from pcchips internet site took almost two hours from work with a lan connection.

I have built several systems with the 571 board and at least 3 with the 598 board, so far no problems at all. My personal system is a 598 which I've had for about a year, everything is OK. Maybe you have bad boards.

I have a M598 and a M571 motherboard. They work great with no problems whatsoever. The M598 has an AMD K6-2 300 cpu and the M571 has
a Cyrix MII 233 cpu. You must have gotten a bad board. I got both of mine through TigerDirect and they will replace any bad board or CPU that you buy from them free of charge.

Unhappy Video Problems

I am refurbishing a HP Pavillion 4433 with a SiS 598 Board. I have tried to install video drivers (SiS 5597/5598) but when I reboot I get blue screens with errors. I also installed Win ME. Is there a solution? Or is there an updated driver to use with Win ME? PLEASE HELP!!!!
