Question ATI RAGE PRO TURBO AGP 2X (English)

I am looking for an updated driver. In the display adaptors in my system. It says ATI RAGE PRO TURBO AGP 2X (English). Is this the driver or is the name of the actual chip? I would like to identify my chip without opening up the CPU case. Any help or update locations would be greatly appreciated!
Stephen

I have the same stupid card. Look on the net for the update which is 7.34MB and its filename is "w82560en.exe". I have it saved on my computer but I forgot the URL in which I got it from...e-mail me if you want me to send it to you (I have T1).

I'm having severe problems with the new 2560 drivers. I have an AMD k6-2 400, on MSI 5169mb, 96mb pc-100 sdram, sblive! card etc. I am running win98 se... the default drivers don't give me any problems. I have done complete clean re-installs etc, and still my computer locks up after a while (remember, i previously stated this problem does NOT occur with win 98 se's default drivers) I have an ATI Xpert 98 AGP.

You probably already guessed ATI can't make a driver right the first (or second or third) time to save their life. Kinda like Microsoft, eh? It's not done until it's rewritten and patched umpteen times.
Anyway, I had a similar problem, but on the "original" Win 98. Best I could figure out, it was the ATI desktop stuff that was actually giving my system fits. I kicked back to the win 98 default drivers for a while and all was fine. If you really want the ATI desktop stuff, then what I found worked was installing the card using the default drivers first, then removing McAfee Virus Scan, and then updating your ATI card to the newest version. Use a utility that will sniff for registry problems and invalid references before you update the driver to the new one, or you'll end up getting the same bad results as before. Convoluted, I know, but it worked for me (I also have an SBLive!). Good luck

I also have the Xpert 98 AGP card I run Win98 SE with 128MB ram on VIA Apollo Pro chipset m/b.
I had a problem with one of the Open GL screensavers (strangely only the 3D text one all others were fine) locking the system when using the ATI drivers. I finally cured this (I hope!!) by uninstalling the drivers then uninstalling the VxD used by the chipset then starting again - VxD install the ATI drivers, this as said so far has cured the problem.
