Rage Fury Constant crashing with AVI

Wasted the last 2 months troubleshooting my computer. All that's left is the video card. My benchmark is to play two AVI files side by side. I can't do it longer than 7 minutes before my system crashes. Blue screen of death. 7 was the exception, usually w/in 3 min. MPG files play fine for hours. The errors are most often fatal 0E, are always at 0028:C******* in VXD VMM(01), VxD aic78u2(01), VXD VPICD(01), VWIN32(05), VXD VFAT(01), VxD ---, etc etc. VMM is the most common. I've got the latest ATI driver 4.11.6114 and WIN98SE on SuperMicro P6DGU mother board, PII400, GX chipset. Anybody? I'm at the end of my rope. Thanks.
