king pin wont load w/ ati rage fury 128

i bought kingpin and every time i try to play it tells me that a hardware device is not found. i contacted the interplay support and they told me to update to the newest drivers, wich i spent hours downloading and i still cant get the game to load. has anyone else had this problem if so how did you fix it...
i am about to go buy a voodo...
