Compaq Presario 5204 with Rage Pro LT AGP 2X

I have a Compaq Presario, recently it crashed. I believe it HAD a Rage Pro LT AGP 2X video card. We re-formatted it, but did not use their Quick Restore CD. Since then, there are 2 choices in colors in Display Settings: 2 colors and 16 colors, most of the screen savers won't work. What can I do to restore good video graphics without using Quick Restore, which puts a whole lot of stuff on the hard drive that I don't want or need.
