Angry Wireless HELP!

Ok, I just recently purchased a Linksys Wireless router, and wireless PCMCIA card to go with my laptop. Both are 802.11b. I am using Win XP Professional, or a brand new Dell Inspiron 1100. My problem is that I get kicked off of AOL Instant Messanger regularly about every minute or so, which does not work for chatting. I also have a very hard time downloading stuff, becuase my connection gets interrupted every minute or so. I did have a 2.4Ghz phone, but I removed that because it was interfering. I have a 900Mhz phone, but it does not matter whether the phone is on the base or not, the problem still occurs. I have no clue what to do, and would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.
