Unhappy Agfa Snapscan 310 parellel

Hi all
I downloaded Agfa Snapscan 310 parellel ez_310p_V1401 DRIVER FOR WinMe. after installing the driver when switch on the scanner I get this error.

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION +++++
++++ SAT ERROR ID: A problem occurred with your scanner.
Open the log file to find out more.
++++ ERROR TAG: ERR_SCAN_DEV
++++++++ERROR STRING: SNAPSCAN 310, device error:
++++ ERROR TAG: ERR_SCAN_INITIALIZATION
++++++++ERROR STRING: Failed to initialize the scanner driver (required file: C:\PROGRAM FILES\AGFA\SCANWISE 1_40\satsnap.ps)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++


DataView Attach-Detach mismatch.

DataView Attach-Detach mismatch.

There is a satsnap1.ps file in the folder. I have visited many forums and spent endless internet time. My internet time is very expensive in a third world country. I hope somebody can help.

Uninstall the software in safe mode with ME system restore turned off. Remove the scanner from device manager if it shows up there. Reboot to normal mode

download the latest driver from agfa here

Install it in normal mode.
contact agfa if it continues as they have no faqs that cover your error message.

I have already done all this without any success. I also downloaded the same file from 3 different sources including Agfa. I have just posted the question to Agfa.

I thank you for your immediate response. I would have replied sooner but was watching WI-England cricket test match.

You should try changing the bios settings for your parallel (lpt) port from epp to ecp or normal, depending on the choices you have. Some parallel scanners are very picky about the port type.
