I have a Compaq 150 model 445A monitor I picked up from a friend. I am running W95 on a P133 w/ 16MB RAM. When I boot up with 256 colors and 1056x resolution I have to shift the display settings way over to the right to get it to fit on the screen. When I change my display settings to 16bit and a reduced resolution and reboot, I can't adjust the screen far enough to see the entire desktop. I cannot find an updated driver for my monitor (currently using windows supplied driver) if indeed that is what is causing my problem (i.e. video card). Has anyone run into this problem and can help?

You might want to try and find the driver at the Compaq website for your monitor. If you can't find it in the list, call the tech support number and ask them for the proper Softpaq for the model of monitor you have.
My Presario desktop died and I moved the monitor to a different brand desktop. I downloaded the driver because there was a statement in the description that indicated that it would make the monitor more compatible with non-Compaq hardware (i.e., if you use the monitor on another brand of PC). I noticed a slight improvement, I'm now going in search of the most current video card drivers to make sure. I also heard about a utility at download.com that is supposed to help you get the best resolution settings. It is called DisplayMate and it is the next thing on my list to try to improve things further. Good luck. |

I have a Presario 140 monitor on a CDP (store that built it) 450 Celeron and a RAGE PRO TURBO 2X AGP (english), I don't have that proble beacuse windows adjusts it, always, even on my old Pentium 75 Compaq 486, it should do the same for you.
