Hi,
I am looking for amodem driver for the Compaq 56KDF-i for Windows NT4. Rang Compaq service and they said that they don't do drivers for NT. Anyone come across one that works? Thanks, Brendan |

You can try the generic Lucent drivers (I think that one is a lucent modem. check chip on modem).
If that doesn't work then you may be out of luck. That modem was only put on Presario computers as far as I know, and they are not business machines. They are multimedia game systems, and Windows NT just doesn't understand multimedia. If you plan on using NT I would recamend getting a business machine. Compaq, HP, and DELL have nice ones, but they are totally different from there home systems.

Good Luck, Dude! Neither Compaq nor Lucent have any present intentions of supporting NT or Win2K. They allready have your money, why should they care if you are inconvenienced by trying to run any OS more complex than Win9X? If I find one that works, I'll be sure to let you know. If you just want one that loads fully, but doesn't actually function, download Lucent's most recent driver v5.55 at their Taiwan site. At least this one shows up in Control Panel as being installed. Too bad it doesn't actually work.

It is in a laptop I have, not a desktop, so I don't have much choice.
As for business machines I've got NT4 on a Solo 2500SE laptop from Gateway, who supplied drivers for everything. Well that is strange, as I used to have a Lucent PCI modem in a NT4 machine here. Got drivers with the modem and it worked fine. Strange..... ![]() Brendan |
