PRESARIO 7940 STEALTH III DRIVER PROBLEM

Bought new 7940 and have had problems with the 'tails of the letters y,p,q,g etc not displaying correctly in IE5.0. The new driver on the Diamond web site to correct this problem has caused the monitor display to NOT come back from "sleep" mode as it should. The mouse will display but the rest of the screen is blank. I have had to do a registry restore (not system!) two times. I am not sure if it is a registry corruption alone or registry corruption and cache dump from the video memory.
