presario 1075 modem drivers after win98 reinstall

i installed win98 after formating my presario 1075 notebook that came loaded with its own win95 restoration disk. i'm having trouble getting my modem to work properly.
i can't find which com port its on, when win98 finds new hardware, the modem is unidentified hardware, and the drivers cannot be located. i've also tried the net.
the modem is a presario 336-vsc. anyone have this trouble? or know how to fix it?
please help me out

Restore your 1075 notebook back to 95 then use a WIN98 upgrade and everything will be OK.
