100% CPU Usage Problem
Hey,
I own an HCL ME 54 laptop with 4 GB DDR3 RAM and an Intel i3 M350 processor. I've been using it for a year.
My problem is, whenever I start playing games on it, the game starts freezing so much that it becomes akin to pausing a million times a minute. When I Alt-Tab and look at the CPU usage, Task Manager says it is at 100% and the laptop is really hot at the sides and ends.
This also happens if I play games for, like, 10 minutes and use the laptop normally. The freezing thing happens after some time.
I didn't have this problem during the first 6-8 months of using it.
I've formatted my Win 7, re-installed it, installed XP, defragmented my HDD, scanned for viruses, spywares, trojans, malware etc.
I'm at my wits end now. I don't know what to do. It'd be really helpful if someone could help me out here. Thanks! :)

Welcome to WinDrivers!
I notice that you've updated on another forum to say that you've found this doesn't happen with the battery removed from the laptop.
Any helpers should take that extra factor into consideration with their suggestions.

So your saying it happens with both Windows 7 and with Windows XP?

Curious are you using it on hard surface to allow heat to leave Laptop through vents on bottom and sides? That might explain it is getting hot, or dust is in your laptop, fans not working.

Sometimes with hot laptops additional cooling techniques may be needed.
You can invest in laptop cooling pads with fans in them or find a laptop riser that will lift a laptop up a couple inches or more for better airflow underneath.
The other previous postings have good suggestions too like dust buildup.

Look if there is some other program that is using your memory because 100% usage cannot be achieved by playing games only. You are definitely running something in the background that it why this problem is occurring. Also, try using a thermal pad when you playing the game, it helps sinking the heat from your processor
