If you're going to purchase a 19" monitor, make sure it's got a low dot pitch or you'll get an awful picture at 1280x1024. If you can, see it in action before you fork over the dough.
tnx for the advice macgyver. btw, wot wud u consider a "low" dot pitch? these are both 0.26, but i think that iiayama does a 0.24. would i notice the difference?
It doesn't sound like much, but yes, it would make a difference. The dot pitch is the size of the pixels. At a certain resolution, the pixels get too close together and they "blur". This is a problem with my Viewsonic 19" at work. I can't run it at 1280X1024 because everything is blurry. But 1152x864 looks fabulous. I think it has a .26 dot pitch.
If you have a choice, go with the Iiyama. They have been making high end CAD monitors for years. LG is lower end.
I'd stay at .25 dpi and lower now a days.
LG sounds like a good idea.
