weird!!!
I have win2k and i don't know exacly what Grafic-cart i have ! ! !
Well win2k founds ATI Tehnologies Inc. 3d rage pro AGP 2x but on my chip is writen just 3d rage pro. When i use Windows drivers it is Ok exept that i have problem whit my Open-GL.I can open Screen Saver what reguests Open-gl but i can't play Quake III.I've find drivers for all win2k ATI grafic carts but while installing i get msg The software you are about to install does not contain a Microsoft digital signature ... and grafic cart is same as i had 3d rage pro AGP 2x.
After installing it is funy :) .
I can't set more than 800 x 600 pixels but i can play quake III fine. how can i Open win2k whit 1024x768 and to work fine open-GL?
P.S.whit win2k drivers i can open resolution 'till 1024x768 pixels
-
This error is common and dont really mean any thing except that the driver was not verifiyd by MS. Only by ATI
Use it.
Also make sure that you have leatest DX installed.
-
i have DX-8 and the problem was that whit ATI drivers i can't set resolution more than 800X600 pixels but i can play Quake and whit win2k drivers i can set resolution 'till 1024X768 but i can't play quake III

try changing the refresh rate and try it again
-
Also make sure you have a monitor defined, rather than just 'default monitor'. If you monitor isn't in the list, go for 'Plug n Play Monitor'. That should give you more resolutions to play with.
-
does this means something to you? GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem i get this when i try to play quake III whit win2k drivers
i've try what u told but nothing and whit ATI drivers i get multiple monitors (1 more than i had)
I don't have idea what to do!!!

http://www.opengl.org/users/downloads/index.html
Install new OpenGL drivers

the problem is at drivers coz whit ATI drivers i can play fine!!!
BTW i've download that long time ago 10x
-
Then the only other file would be the 1.29 patch, but I'm guessing you've loaded that already.
-
1.29 patch?
where can i find it?
just i don't get it why whit ATI drivers i get multiplay monitors when i got just one?
-
PlanetQuake has the 1.29h Point Release for Quake 3 which may resolve some issues.
But the main question is, can your card interpret OpenGL commands properly?
Most older ATI cards were 2D/3D hybrid cards. My previous card, an ATI RageII+ could not, but did process Direct3D. Yet the Xpert98, which supports AGP 2x, does both.
