error at start up
When i start windows i get a message that says:
Windows Registry or system.INI files
the device file no longe exists.
Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run windows or windows application.
Any ideas on what this is. Would this have anything to do with the sound not working.

What is the exact error message? Does it tell you what file is missing, i.e. *.ini, *.dll, etc.?
-
I've had that happen when somebody messes up the network settings (e.g., vredir.dll not found or msnp32.dll not found). I've gone into the registry, searched for all occurances of the offending file, and deleted the registry entries. But be very careful not to delete the wrong entries...that could be very bad forcing you to reinstall Windows.
In the case of the missing network entities, I've gone into networking properties and deleted all networking components (except my network adapter), restarted Windows, then gone back into networking properties and reinstalled all the necessary networking components. That's also fixed my problems. https://forums.windrivers.com/

At start up it says:
Windows Registry or systems ini. device has been deleted. the device file no longer exist. cannot find device file that may be needed to run windows or window application.
After I push enter it will go to desktop.

What is the file (or files) that it says its missing?
-
Yeah that'll fix it. Just note the file/s that are missing and search and destroy in the registry. Then re-install your sound card driver if it's related.

G'Day,
You need to find out what the offending file is called, then go to the Reg or System .ini to delete.
If you are not sure I reccomend you get a Computer Tech to have a look.
