I never thought about it before, but I aways fdisk /mbr and format, than install image
I believe it overwrites the partition table so I guess it would not matter,But be safe and "F" it anyways! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
Ghost does overwrite anything on the drive.
I would fdisk / format. Just to be safe.
Have had some wierd problems not doing that first and ghosting windows 2000 drives.
Ive never repartitioned or formatted a drive using ghost and have never had a problem, I use it at least three times a day.
Wildman, what kind of problems did you have? I haven't had any yet (and I never do anything except dump the image) but since Ghost is like a PFY to me, I'd like to be prepared. Any info is appreciated!
Ghost will replace eveything. It does a sector by sector recovery of the hard drive.
I use Ghost almost every day and never Fdisk
I use Ghost with Win9x and Win2k and never have a problem...I've never FDisked prior.
Same here. As long as the partition remains the same size I've never had a problem (Win95, Win98, WinNT).
I don't see why I should waste time reformatting a drive when Ghost (or Drive Image) will overwrite anything in the sectors anyhow.
I fdisk /mbr and fdisk 'cause it's quick and easy. I do not bother formating the drive 'cause it's time a wasted...unless I'm chargin by the hour...then maybe. J/K
