i have a kensiko2000 plus mouse and windows cant detect it, why?
Are you using an adapter for the mouse?
Are all the problems that your having listed above (i.e., ensoniq sound, pci serial controller, mouse, etc.) all on the same machine?
If so, you probably might have irq conflicts, or maybe just a corrupt install of 98, or you need to address 1 problem at a time.

An obstacle is something you see when you take your eyes off your goal.
i have to use a 9pin serial adapter to use my mouse or it wont even work. when i put it on the normal 6 pin connector and i bootup my system it says, PS/2 mouse "windows did not detect a mouse attached to your computer, turnoff your computer and attach the mouse and turn it on again". i tried this a million times but it still wont move. i even installed the drivers a lot of time but still no action. is this because of a hardware conflict or something?

Look on the bottom of your mouse.
If there's a switch make sure it's set to "ps2" if it isn't then it won't be recognised on the ps2 port.

nope. theres only a "ms" and a "pc" switch. Which one should i put.
whichever it isnt currently set at
Do you think I have to set my bios and all that.
Sounds like you got a bad PS/2 port or a conflict going on.
Check and make sure the PS/2 port is hooked up to the motherboard correctly if is on a cable (AT style boards). If it's soldered on (ATX), nevermind.
Does it work PS/2 style in safe mode? If so, I would look at a definite IRQ conflict issues, start yanking and disabling hardware until you find the culprit. If not, try another mouse. You never know what can happen with those "cheap" ps/2 mice!
The switch should be on MS, and those adaptors are usually junk.

Now its not as bad as before but still some glitches. The bios looked ok and I have a QDI motherboard. Its still the same in safe mode.
if you have a different ps2 mouse try it
it could be a bad mouse
well, after trying 3 different mouses still the same problem, why?
