Unique situation

Ok.. When you make a shortcut. it places the small arrow over the icon for the program/document when it places the icon for the shortcut. That is normal.

This unit it places a icon of a trashcan over the icon of the shortcut. This needs to be changed. I know "KNOW" I've seen something on changing that somewhere.. My question is Where?

You can try TweakUI to either remove the little (suposed) arrow, or rebuild your icons.

I knew I had seen that before.. Don't see a problem like this very often.. :-)
