When installing nt4.0 from cd, after I put in the third installation floppy disk (created by the insatallation disk), the installation program won't recognize the disk.
Any input are very much appreciated.
my system: pentium 66mhz, award modular bios v.4.50g
24mb ram, 1.2 gb western digital ide hard disk + 200 mb ide hard disk, Media vision Pro3d MV5000 kit (using Premium/Pro 3d sound card, NCR 501 CDROM attached to the sound card), Diamond Stealth 64 VRAM PCI (driver v. 1.33
Why use the disks?
If your BIOS supports boot from CD-ROM, change it to this setting. This will allow NT to BOOT from CD-ROM and ignore the Setup Disks 1 to 3. or boot to DOS and use the install switch /B which will install the boot floppies to Hard disk.

install w/ bootdisk is the only method that seems to work..up to some point..
With other methods (install from cd or from DOS with /b option), the installation can go up to the point before NT tries to detect the hardware. After that I got a blue screen with "Mic windows NT 4.0....24MB RAM1 processor , MP Kernel" message on top of my screen and everything stopped. I even have to cold boot the system to regain access.
My BIOS does not support boot from CD.. so my only options are install from CD (after the CDROM drivers are loaded) with installation disk creation and without one.
I can't install NT4.0 from hard disk.
Any idea what is going on? Is my system unqualified for NT4.0 system?

I think your problem may relate to having your CD Rom running off your Sound Card. Haven't seen an install work correctly that way, the few I've seen attempted. Check on Microsofts website for the NT 4 HCL and insure your pc is compatable. I have never had one that if there was a install problem via the CD where I couldn't copy the I386 directory off the CD onto the hard drive and run the install from there. You may have other issues going on here that are masking the true problem (IRQ conflicts, etc).
