From what I remember a long time ago when this was brought up, is that NT natively does not support USB. I have heard that there is a patch for this but it doesn't really work.
Try <a href="http://www.bsquare.com/products/devtools/usbwin40/" target="_blank">http://www.bsquare.com/products/devtools/usbwin40/</a>
You may want to consider upgrading to Windows 2000, because by the time you've finished paying for this third party solution, you'll already have paid for half of the price of upgrading.
There is not, nor ever will be USB support natively in NT-4:
<a href="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q196661" target="_blank">Windows NT 4.0 Does Not Support Universal Serial Bus (Q196661)</a>
However, There are some devices, such as the Iomega zip 250 USB, that have driver support provided by the manufacture, that I have only heard work just fine. However, I doubt the drivers are going to work with everything USB.
These guys sell a 3rd party solution, perhaps that might get you through the woods...

Well'p, MacGyver beat me to it...
Wow, I just looked up how much. $79.00 per license, $50 a piece if you buy a 10 pack.
Forget that I mentioned them...
Oh, I moved out of the NT OS years ago. This was just a topic that came up on a recent interview. Ironically I found the same two links today. Thanks for all your help guys.
Windows NT doens't offer native USB support.
There are 3rd party system drivers taht enable USB under NT...
Be prepared to pay - they're not cheap.
Those drivers are meant for big companies that have NT networks and don't want or need to migrate to win2k.
So, aside from installing 3rd party software NT4 doesn not support USB? Time for 2k then...
