FYI - ROXIO

the site for album & tracks id has been down
for over a week,talked to ts they said that there techs said they could not give them a time when it would be up!!!!!! again <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">

Actually, from what I read it is a contract dispute with the CDDB people. They do not want ROXIO to have access. My guess the RIAA has their fingers in there somewhere. This from what I understand is going to go to court because GracenoteCDDB is public owned and the public submits cd tracks so supposedly they can not legally block anyone. I take an extra step and acces the data base through Winamp. It stores the information somewhere on my computer and my burn software knows what it is. Pain in the rectal region if you ask me, but it works.

I use CDEX to extract the tracks and pull the CD info from CDDB, THEN use Roxio EasyCD Creator to burn the tracks on CD. I like CDEX better for audio track extraction because it uses the LAME encoder engine. Give that a try.

No, seriously that is what it is called! Sounds kind of silly, really: "I think the LAME encoder is the best"

I would have to agree with Macgyver. I really like the LAME encoder. I also always use the CDDB from Cdex. Its up and working nearly all the time. Cheers. <IMG SRC="smilies/cool.gif" border="0">

I know it's contract, but what I heard is that Gracenote is trying to take posession of the CDDB, and make it a pay service. I don't think that RIAA has anything to do with it...
