They are called GUIDs or Globally Unique Identifiers. For lack of better choice of words, they are like serial numbers for applications. . .or at least that is my understanding.

The Control Panel's key is called [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}] and the ID is the last set of number after CLSID, in this case '{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}
:D
Randolph, that is the cooledt top that i have ever done....
where didja learn to do that at?
Randolph,
very cool... i'm with Cable Modem Tech...where'd you dig up that reg hack??
I've been using this trick since shortly after Win95 came out. I guess I use it so often I just forgot about it.
ive been using this for awhile,. i even posted it in the tip section of my website.
I learned to do that ny listening to a sunday morning talk radio show, About 3 yrs ago. If you live in the greater LA area listen to KFI 640 (AM) and there is a show on on sunday morning called Jeff Levy on computers. he has lots of tips and tricks.
Ditto especially as WinME & 2K alreay have this function built in to the Taskbar Options.Quote:
