Outlook Express and Mcaffee
I recently ran across this, and thought I would share. The pc ran perfectly. Outlook express connected and downloaded e-mail. But from the time you clicked the OE icon, it took at least 60 seconds for the program to launch. Same thing when you tried to open a new message. But if left to sit open, it worked fine. An article in the MS Knowledge base covered it, believe it or not. The imghlp.dll file was corrupted by an installation of McAffee. MS says you must reboot between removal of an old version and installation of a new or this can result. Turns out, upgrading Mcaffee is what the customer had done. Just didn't feel the need to tell us when we asked "Installed any new devices or programs?"
