Suuuuuuure we'll hire you

A guy came in today asking for a job. He had just attained a computer degree at a local college.

I told him that business was slow, so we weren't hiring, but I'd be glad to keep his application on file in case we needed him.

We started talking shop and he said that his specialty was networking. However, when I asked him about network protocols he didn't know what they were. When I mentioned TCP/IP he said, "Yeah, I've heard of that before." Good recovery, doof.

He asked me to email him, but then remembered that the email address on his resume was wrong. He had misspelled it. He didn't want to write the correction on the resume because it'd look messy, so he wrote it on his letter of recommendation.

Then he told me about a site he likes called "bored.com" except "they spell 'bored' wrong. They spell it some weird way."
I was curious so I asked him to show me. He sat down, thought about it some, and then typed (really slowly) "bored.com"
then he said, "Yeah, that's the weird way they spell it. They spell it all wrong."

I thanked him for dropping by, and then filed his resume... in the short round file under the desk.

A lot of people come out with a Bachelors degree like this. It’s a pity but I bet he ends up getting a job making more than the next guy just cause he has a piece of paper. Companies will often not even look at you unless you have it either.

I met this aloof guy fresh out of college with his bachelors degree in networking that didn’t know what where RAM went in the system. I knew zip about computers at the time and still knew more than this guy did. Sad.

I wonder who wrote his letter of recommendation??!!?!?!?!?!??!! Man, that person would have to be more stupid than the applicant! LMAO

For a brief second I thought this was not possible - however I have been here at the WinDrivers forums long enough that it is never impossible for somebody to be too stupid. There is always one who is more stupid!

I get lousy resumes sent in to our office all the time. Most people are applying for jobs that don't have any relevance to our field of work. The good thing is that they can be recycled or used as scrap paper. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Had a guy come by telling me all about how he was such a computer "GURU", then he went on to tell me he had never used WIN NT, just mostly Windows 97...

I then told him that we couldnt use his help at the moment.

I've had people tell me that they where wondering if we had any positions open for tech work. I'd say yes or no or whatever and then ask about their experience level. One lady told me she used to be a secretary and knows Microsoft Word really well. I was like, "OK, that's good, but have you ever worked on a computer?" Her reply, "No, but I can type quite well."

Dont let this cheeseball interview in the Detroit area. This #$%^head just might steal a job away from me!!!! This company I interviewed for hired someone over me because they certifications that outnumbered mine even though, quoted by the man who inteviewed me "Even though he doesnt have near the experience as you do".

MAN what a moron, i' know too many guys in college for pc stuff that ask me questions about their problems, etc.! and i can't see them working in computers

Hell a neibhour of mine brought a pc over fer me to take a look at only fer me to say that it was virus laden (which u could CLEARLY see) and needed a good format

Seen this before. And have to agree, that it is the bloke with the paper who gets a job. My father has just had to do a course in "Warehouse Managment", nothing to do with the fact he has done the job for the last 10 years and the course was a waste of time, but the firm wants to have the bloke with the bit of paper.

On the flip side of that, I only got my current position because I had a Diploma in Engineering and Microelectronics, so you cannot complain all the time....

(I just had to show the owner of our company how to sneakernet files - the web machine at work is a stand-alone unit, and the software that he was updating is on one of the networks - he didn't know you could use "move" to erase the floppys as you copied the files!) <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">
