I gotta say the Counter-Strike mod for Half-Life is Killer, I'd be getting a whole lot more sleep if it wasn't for this damn online game...
by far i like UT...never played half life and quake3 is okay.

For violence, Soldier of Fortune, but I had to stop playing that game cause of the strange dreams. For right now, I'm enjoying the new release of C-strike for half-life.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Too bad none of you have heard of Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. Greatest Multiplayer game ever. 10 weapons (including the Thermal Detonator, and the trusty lightsaber), 12 Force Powers, and a whole lotta mods >=D
i prefer the classics as well (largly due to mt crappy a$$ computer that won't run anything besides doom well). ok, i can play quake 2 and half life, but only in software mode. duke nukem's ok, but i find that it's too buggy for me, i like an oldie that's got all the kinks worked out - DOOM II baby! Ahh, when doom 3 comes out ill finally need to get a new computer.

Starcraft mutliplayer. Fast, tough, step learning curve, and systematically complex + elegant. I have not played a first person shooter for awhile...they all seem the same after awhile, like just another version of DOOM. I farted around with Deux Ex (sp?) and picked up a cheap copy of UT tournament (which my friend and I tried to play on the HEAT network which totally sucked a$$).
Btw, how should I play UT mutiplayer? My buddy and I wanna hookup and play as a team.

I loved Doom (all versions) when I was a student. Kinda old, but it is one of the best ever made!
