How did this one reach breeding age?

I got off a 2-hour call today with a customer that was truly unbelievable in his stupidity! This joker was getting an "invalid password" error. OK no problem - easy fix.

I help him delete his profiles and re-do them. Same problem. OK, maybe it's a typo, no big deal. Nope, same problem. Try re-entering pw again by the kindergarten method: I read the character, you read it back to me as you type it. Foolproof. Nope, still same error.

Now, of course, during this whole call, the guy keeps putting me on terminal hold while he goes off to do something else that is apparently MORE important than the crisis which precipitated his calling ME.

I finally run a report that shows me every keystroke this guy's trying to send to us, and I discover the problem! When I read off "Z as in Zebra" and he reads back to me "Z as in Zebra", he's not typing "Z", he's typing "L". :eek: L?????? Next character, "Q as in Queen", becomes "D". And so on. This guy was completely incapable of following instructions!

I had a keyboard come into the shop that had all the keys switched around the other day. The guy brought it in for almost the same problem. I asked him if he had any kids in the house that could have messed with his keyboard. Response: Oh, no, I took it apart the other day after I spilled something in it and figured that the computer knew which key was which. :eek:

I often wonder what it would be like to be that ignorant

I won't start critisize the customers, cause I would surely get flamed!!!

Having trouble reaging the screen........its full of coffee I just sprayed it with reading this. Keyboards coverd too....Note to self: take photo of keyboard before you remove the keys!!!

I love it when they have a problem and I go to their desk or whatever and I ask them to log in, they look at me and say:

What password should I use ?

How the F--- should I know your password ?

Then there are these users:

User: "My computer won't take my password"
Me: "It's case sensitive. Do you use all lower case or a combination?"
User: "Huh? Lower case, I think."
Me: "Hang on. I'll reset it for you."
Me: "Try it now."
User: "Same thing. What could be wrong?"
Me: "I'll be right there."

I arrive on scene only to find that either one of two things has happened:

1) They're trying to enter their password in the Domain box.

or

2) Someone else used the computer earlier and the current user didn't even bother to look at the login dialog box to ensure that their username was there.
