Ever been seriously threatened by a customer or aquaintence while on the job?
( should this be in tech tales? )
In a former life I did collections, so yes...I would get threatened reguarly.
Never had a gun pulled on me though, had my life threatened, various body part removal suggestions, insertion suggestions, etc etc.
Hated that job..
Yes, I had a customer threaten me with grevous bodly harm, I told him to grow up and step outside. I then told him I was a sniper/scout in USMC and if he wanted to continue he may want to call home and tell his wife to bring his dental record to the morgue. He backed down and drove away. This was all over a $10 mouse.
I worked on Corporate Security for a company. Once a customer called in complaining. So I get call. He threaten me saying he's going to have me killed or he's going to send a voodoo curse to kill me. I asked him if he knows where he is calling and what department this is. He says yes. Then, I said, you know I deal with Police and FBI agents almost every day. I said, do you happen to know the home phone of the San Francisco FBI Office's Resident Field Agent? He says no. I say, I do. I say you are calling from the pay phone at 1st and Main. I know you live on Main. He's Quiet. I can have Police there inside of 2 minutes for harrasing me. I do favours all the time. Suddenly he gets REEEEAAAL polite.
would that be like if someone said, "Hey, I know this guy who lives at
XXXX Vandike St
Philadelphia, PA 19135
(215)3XX-7543
Just cause he put a link to his website on his profile?"
Yes and they only did it the once........
I am 6'4" well over 250lbs. Threats are not really a problem. And the people that know me know that I have guns.Quote:

The only threat that I take serious is one where lawyers might get involved but I always call the bluff.
In other circumstances (not my tech work) I've had guns pulled on me several times, been shot at a couple, came home to find the front of my house all shot up once.....
I used to do crisis intervention counseling for families with teens involved in all kinds of tragic, nasty things....
Never at work, or outside of work for that matter. I think the closest I came was when a guy bailed me up at an atm claiming I stuck my tongue out at him (is this guy a d**k or what?), evidently he was just looking for a fight.
In Germany we don't repair PCs&Network with guns... so the only thing I could frighten an angry customer could be a crimping-tool (very big and effective though) :D ... the good thing is - they don't have guns either!
Is that really the normal case in USA? Have you all guns in your pockets? ... incredible world... :(
Yes, but luckily the police still haven't found the body.Quote:

Not yet and I'm sure it will never happen. If so, I wouldn't blame myself for what will happen!! ;)Quote:

i've never had a case of being attacked because of my martial arts training. that's not a boast; the training helps to identify potential dangers and avoid.
obviously if i couldn't do that, i'd kick some a$$
Hehe.. I'm glad I'm not an enemy of yours, Larommi! :D :D :DQuote:

I'm the one usually doing the threatening. But I did have a co-worker at a past job threaten to drive by my house and kick my ***. So I called him on it. I went to HIS house, and knocked on the door and rang the door bell for a half an hour. I know he was there, but he never came to the door.
He called in sick at work the next day, and we never heard from him again.
