Oh my! The P4!?!?!
Maybe my shop is a little slower but we just got in a P4. So I got to see it for he first time, and the thing is the size of a frigen quarter!!!!! The heat sink is larger then some power supplies!!!! And I’m not exaggerating! Its almost cute looking  in a scary way :D

Obviously a 478 model....Yeah, I was unprepared for just how small it would be until the first one I opened up to install. I'm still absolutely mystified how anyone can possibly make something that small with millions and millions of functioning, tiny machines (transistors) in there let alone actually functioning in some ordered, useful way. How far away from Sci-Fi nanotechnology machines that can be injected in the blood stream to go repair some little rupture in a brain? Just too cool....

Or maybe install learning mods ;)

Such a small package and so little heat generated. Now why can't this be said ofr other chips?????? ;)

I was waiting for a comment like that to come along! :D ;)

I didn't mention any names though ;) ;) ;) and I could have meant any other chips not one specific one.

Buw ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha *cough* ack, geeez!
Hey I heard of this new chip naming scheme. From now on it DMA. Yeeeees, I see a future in copy..er.. improving, yes that's it. :D

Now you know why I disable it for :) :) :) LOL

Hence making it a much slower system :D :D :D
(True too...try disabling DMA on a hard drive..makes a difference..)

If Amd had not come out with the athlon. What speed would Intel be screwing us at, 733, or 766. At what price 400 or 600 dollars for 33 mhz. Go ahead and buy Intel might as well kill Linux while your at it.

I will do :D :D
I buy what the hell I want to buy and not what hardware sites & reviews recommend!!!! Unlike most of the forum users here I make my own decisions and don't rely on information from others to make my mind up. If you want to buy an Athlon then that is your perogative, if I want to buy Intel then that is mine, I am just so friggin' sick of all the AMD marks here going on & on & on about how 'good' the AMD chips are when only a very small minority of us here can actually see the truth behind things, & what am I using currently??? An AMD based system. The first & last one that I own, even though I have had no problems with it.
At least when Intel manufacture something, it will work straight out from the off and not require a seperate daughterboard (i.e. the thermal diode scenario we are currently going through).
Man , I am soon going to give up on forums totally as they are not good for my blood pressure!!!!!!!!!

While you might well be right about the price, the processor speed would still be in the range that it is. Why? Because even without competition, Intel would still want us to keep upgrading as often as possible to keep getting more of our cash. Need an example? Microsoft doesn't have much competition and keeps coming out with new versions of Windows. Intuit releases a new version of Quicken every year but hasn't significantly changed the program in quite some time. The trick in sales is to get the most you can as often as you can....
