Red Hat 6.2 PM
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to turn off powermanagment with Red Hat 6.2. All pm is off in BIOS I have used the ntsys command to turn off APMD at startup and used the setterm -powerdown off command. This particular customer's system is still going into sleep mode at night, and his modem is turning off as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is he using command line only? Or is he using one of the desktps?
If he is Using KDE desktop you can go to the Kmenu/configuration/dpms and disable it there.
with Gnome I think you can disable basic dpms in the screen saver settings.
If he is using command line only you need to disable APM for every user. just disabling it for the root user won't diable it on any other logins.

he is using command line...how do you disable it?

For command line in RedHat, use linuxconf to get rid of APMD. That's always worked for me.

l forgot to mention before...make sure the machine is actually using APMd...if ACPI is installed and running, the APMd settings are ignored.
