Best Networking Solution?
I am wanting to network my three PC's with the available hardware I have. Originally I just had 2 machines connected via a crossover cable on a 100MB connection. A Windows 98 workstation, and a Windows 2000 server. In case I ever add any more PC's I have decided to make use of an old 10MB 5 port hub I have. If possible, I don't want to change the existing 100MB connection with the Windows 98 machine but instead install a 2nd 10MB network card into the server and connect this to the hub, then add the other workstations to the hub as I get them. Is this possible, and if so how? Im guessing Ill need t set up some sort of routing between the NIC's though I aren't all that familiar with routing configurations. Currently the IP address allocation is 192.168.0.1 for the 100MB nic in the server and 192.168.0.2 for the 10MB. The workstations are 192.168.0.3 and 192.168.0.4. Would it be easier if I used DHCP? Any help on this appreciated (Even if you can recommend something to read), I seem to be getting no where fast.
