Startup Password Removal
Anyone have a quick way to remove the Windows startup user password. It seems that a client of mine is getting divorced and her estranged husband decided it would be fun to change her startup password. Unfortunately, she has a huge ammount of personal files and work files that she cannot lose. It would make her bill and my life much easier if I could just hack the password Thanks https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2000/09/1.gif

first make sure you have show all files, and don't hide file extensions. search for *.pwl and delete it. when you reboot it will ask you for a new password.
-
That password is just for her profile, it can't keep you out of data files !!!

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO TODAY?......Not that it matters, because Micrsoft will crash on the way there!!!
-
Don't forget to have her send the "I Love You" virus. haha

Besides Windows 9x Faboulos security is only for Login...
You can always get to the files by another system (i.e take the Hdd and put it in another system...).
-
You can delete it from the registry.

this sounds like a single user stand alone machine in which case user profiles are probably not set up. Just hit escape to bypass the login screen, do a search for *.pwl and delete them. Restart windows will now ask you for a new username and password. Have fun. Also you can remove all network clients (not adapters and TCP/IP stack) and restart.
