I'm currently in the market for a good motherboard for a dual Xeon 400 system. I would prefer in could hold atleast 1 gig of memory, but 512 would do. And have IDE built on.
I did find a some SuperMicro motherboards that would do this, but have not had any experiance with them. Anyone ever use them?

Yes I have and they are quite reliable,the only problem you may have is getting it in the case.Some of them do not fit in all cases but if it is a rackmount it should not be a problem.Full tower cases is where you may have a problem but SM makes cases too that takes care of that.
I have also used Asus with no problem at all and did not have a case problem with that one.
The problem is how the retention mechanism is attached to the board/case.
at work our PDC and one of our app servers are custom built with supermicro S2DGU motherboards, they have been very stable (they have to be they are in use 24/5), the S2DG line can handle up to 2 GB of ram and have different configurations with and without scsi. as for a case, supermicro carries cases specific for this and other large format boards, the one we used is the SC750-A but they have other ones on their website, if you don't get one of their cases be sure that you get one with at least a 300 watt pwr supply because the XEON processors can pull a lot of power.
i haven't personally seen xeons in anything but compaq machines. do they require a ppm? i know the specs for my P2B-DS doesn't mention xeon..
