Ihave a customer that needs to link two unix boxes together through a serial link. I have the cat 5 already in place and have the RJ-45 to serial connectors...the problem is that I have no idea how to pinout the connectors. Need some help...
can i just wire the connectors the same on both ends and make the cat 5 a crossover????
For the RJ45 connector:
Pin 1 Receive Data (RD)
Pin 3 Transmit Data (TD)
Pin 6 Signal Ground (SGND)
For the 25-pin Serial connector:
Pin 2 TD
Pin 3 RD
Pin 7 SGND
So...one device's TD will go to the other device's RD and vice versa.
Hope this helps out...Good Luck!
If you have the 9-pin Serial connector:
Pin 2 RD
Pin 3 TD
Pin 5 SGND
Let us know how it goes...
