vortex 2 and win2k

ok.. heres my prob..

i have a diamond monster sound mx300 that i bought when i had win Me installed on my comp, and i had absolutely no trouble with it..

when i upgraded to 2k, the card would hardly work.. i could get the startup sound and thats it.. so i went back the onboard, which works ok..

this was a few months ago.. i pulled it out the other day to try it again cuz i found some new drivers for it at <a href="http://www.vortexofsound.com" target="_blank">Vortex of Sound</a>, nuh-uh.. no dice... still refuses to work... can get only the windows start sound...

Have you tried another driver? Also, is this sharing an IRQ with something else?

i had that board, only used it on intel boards, but i heard that it had incompatiblilities with via based boards. i know that it is slightly incompatible with the intel 815 chipset.

i had no probs with teh soundcard when i had it installed with winME... i think that 2000 just doesnt like it..

ive tried all the aureal drivers, cuz i hate the diamond ones... and ive tried the built in win2k drivers.. they dont work either...

as for irq's, 2000 doesnt show any conflicts, but in looking at them, there were 4 other devices on that particular irq plus the mx300: vid card, nic, and 2 usb universal host controllers...
