the error is OE not that crazy red face....
As with all Shutdown issues, check programs that are running. Do you get this message while shutting down in Safe mode? What hardware are you running? When did you first recieve this message? What changes to the system were done previous to recieving the message? Can you do a system restore? Can I assume a Windows KB search turned up no results?
It's been my experience that OE errors are related to hardware problems. That's about as precise as can be nailed down without actually seeing your machine or getting the module from the rest of the message. i.e. error OE BLAH BLAH BLAH in module WHATEVER.
I've had OE errors clear up from video card replacements, Power supply swaps, memory swaps, sound card replacements CPU upgrades etc.
the module will give you a better idea of where the problems lies. module VFAT.vxd usually relates to disk problems (floppy or hard drive.) VMM.vxd is usually video or sound related. Bad power supply, CPU, or memory can cause just about OE error.
The entrie message is in my first post. It does not have anything to do with a VXD or Module.
that makes it tougher to diagnose if there's no module expression that follows the OE error message. Did it just show up one day?
I'd be leary to try to reinstall windows, becuase if it shows up continually in the installation it can really leave you in a tough spot.
does it do it shutting down from safe mode. this would really indicate if it's a true hardware problem or windows problem with drivers.
I'd still guess hardware
you can try to look through the news group archives. here's a link to search results of your error on groups.google.com

0E (this is actually a zero not the letter O as some was saying) can be caused by hardware (more so RAM), but a lot of it is actually caused by software. Firth thing I do when troubleshooting this is disabled any kind of virus scanning software the EU may have. Also you may want to put in a new RAM chip to see if that resolves the issue also if disabling virus scanning softwar doesn't resolve issue.
thank you social enemy
