UPS's for home use
I just bought a Conext CNB900 UPS from Circuit City because it had a killer rebate. It was being advertised as an APC unit though. Does anyone have any information on Conext and whether or not I bought a heap of garbage or not. I was told that Conext is a division of APC, but that may have been a line of ca-ca.

APC clone? :D Have never heard of... But who knows...
I use APC-400Wt Back-UPS for about four years now - no problem so far... Good accumulators, good UPS...

Yeah, APC makes high-quality products:

I performed a Search on their website for Conext...nothing. For CNB900...nothing again.
Doesn't look like APC has anything to do with Conext...but I could be wrong.

Don's right, I don't think APC does make a clone [by that name, anyway.] I've also used APC's, like them a lot. [Actually forgot I was using it until last week when we had a power failure, and the thing worked just as it should.] When I purchased it, just about every unit APC made had a rebate, too, so it was almost painless.]
Keep in mind, if using Win XP, there's a patch specifically intended for a UPS glitch, remember to snag that if that's your OS.

I performed a Google Search for "conext ups" and came up with: http://www.spamtrap.com/supported.html
It does say that the ConeXt UPS is made by APC. Plus, see Note 2 concerning using a proper cable.
