burner gone nuts!

I own a yamaha crw2100sz and for some reason today it's gone nuts. As soon as i put a cd in it spins up to full speed and locks my computer. I've tried new drivers new firmware. I only just re-installed win2000 two or three days ago but it still just sits and spins. and when there is already a disk in the drive and i reboot it starts doing it then just after the memory check finishes.

The best thing you can do, is to check it on another machine, if possible.
If the problem still occurs, your CD-RW is probably dying.

Also, try a different cd. It could just be a bad cd and it is just trying to read it.
