Well, I guess it was bound to happen. My local distributor no longer has ANY S7 mobos in stock. He says they are in short suppliy and will be ALL GONE very soon. If ya needem, better stock up. It won't be long before there are no S7 chips as well.

yep, if AMD stayed to schedule there are NO s7 chips in production at all, other than mobile k6-2+. I would have to say the cheap replacement would be FCPGA and Celeron. At least until someone can make a decent cheap Athlon board.Quote:

They are hard to find...we just picked up about a dozen FIC VA-503+ boards earlier this week after some searching!
We still have a reasonable supply of MSI 5187 boards. I don't think they'll be around for much longer though.
Socket 7 technology has been around for so long - it was bound to become obsolete eventually.
Try this vendor www.evertech.com they still have MB S7 and AMD K6/2 Chips.
Also www.kaltech.net has just about everything you could need.
Good thing we just used up all of our K6-2 CPUs, and no longer have a need for them. We've still got about 10 in stock, though.
