SIS 7001 USB Problem
Hi Everyone,
Just installed a new motherboard in a friends pc. I didn't reinstall the OS, I just let windows ME detect the hardware when the machine booted with the new mobo. The problem I have is that the "SIS 7001 pci to USB open host controller" has a green question mark next to it. The properties of the controller states that not all of the functionality of the device will be available, and that the driver may need reinstalling. I've searched for a driver but can't find one anywhere. This is causing major problems with the usb cable modem as when the modem is installed, numerous application errors etc occur.
Can anyone please shed some light on this.
P.S I've tried removing the device and allow Windows to reinstall the device but the same green question mark apears.
Cheers
Paul

You want to install the chipset drivers, ME is flaky, you should have some drivers on the CD that came with the motherboard, if not try SIS driver page , this page don't make it very clear what's for what though, you don't name your m/b but their site s/be better.... , that's an unusual error message though, so is the cable seated properly?

The motherboard is a PC Chips 810 LMR. There are no drivers on the cd for that particular USB device. The USB ports are onboard and the SIS site doesn't appear to have any drivers either.
Any other ideas??

paul i,ve got the cd here ,,,there is a directory with usb/sis/usbdetect.exe ,,,,
i,ve built two of those , but on xp ,,,,usb detected ok.
if u changed the board and let o/s on machine ,did u kill the enum in regedit?
the file only seems to be 54k ,,,if u want i can mail it to you.
those are the directories: [IDE ] IDE Driver. *
* [VGA ] VGA Driver. *
* [SOUND ] SOUND Driver and application. *
* [MODEM ] MODEM driver and application. *
* [LAN ] LAN driver. *
* [Perpheral ] Perpheral Devices driver. *
* [USB ] USB Driver. *
* [Utility ] Utility Driver.
ps: the later 810 boards are xp capable they have a small sticker next to the socket that says "xp"
and have a free modem and sound / vid (£61.00)

Hi Freddy,
If you could email the file to me then that would be great. One thing to note though I tried using the cd that came with the mobo to reinstall the usb drivers. There was a usb folder on the cd but the os couldn't find any drivers relevant to the device. In saying that I didn't notice an executable file.
To be honest I didn't kill the enum key in the registry when I swapped the boards purely because the machine takes up to 10 minutes to install any single piece of hardware. Have you ever come across this problem before with "WInME"? I've seen it once before but have never found a solution.
