A+ Certification
Well gang, after several years as a tech and continually saying, I'll get my A+ when I have time, I've decided to "make time" https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2000/09/1.gif If I continue to wait till I have time I'll probably be retired.
I have read and heard techs talking about "A+ Cert study guides" that were helpful to them while preparing for their test. Where could I find these aids and what are they called??
Many thanks,

I used "A+ Certification for Dummies". The book was extremely close to the actual test. very minimal study time. Pass the practice test and you're ready for the real one.

Go to Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million and check out their computer section...always a lot of A+ books. I used The red Exam Cram book (Don't know the name, but they really stick out). Also, there's this huge honkin book by Mike Myers that is just really good to have period. But to tell the truth, both are overkill. Just took the test Friday...it was a joke...peace!

Hey, do they still have the 8086 and 8088 questions on the test? How about win 3.1 and dos?
Congrats btw

I took the A+ on pure knowledge, I cant believe how much of an insult that test is. If someone can pass it from a 'for Dummies' Book, then all of the critics are right. A+ is a useless cert.

I just passed my A+ on May 19th. I was talking with staff at the center after the test and was told by then the test is having some major changes to it and it should be out by August. The test will be adaptive, meaning you will get hit with more questions if you miss questions in a area. Also, Win 3.1 is being removed from the test and questions on Linux are being added to it.
It sure seems it would be best to get the test taken quickly if you are gonna take it.

Hoping to do it soon! Thanks for the info

Update:
I took the test a few days ago...what a joke! If you have any common computer sense, you'll nail it...I took both test in 45 Mins, including the weird survey questions. As for what's on the test, there is still old processor tests (Not as old as the 8088, but 286) and Dos 6.22/Win 3.1. And interesting fact is that CompTIA is going to scrap the Dos 6.22/Win 3.1 section and focus on Win9x, Win NT, and even basic Linux! And we who already have the cert don't have to retake it...woohoo!

How does the A+ compaire to BrainBenches
( www.brainbench.com ) computer tech certification? I can score higher then 60% of the people that take the test, but does that mean I can pass the A+ with flying colors? I have the A+ for dummies flash cards and cd, and a book for A+ and have been in the field for over 2 years. Most the flash cards are very easy, but I'm still wondering if I can pass the A+ or not.
